Purple Hybrid mattresses have the same Purple feel, but with a more sturdy and supportive construction. Purple Mattress Trial
The Purple Hybrid mattress is made by the same company that created Hyper-Elastic Polymer, the original Purple bed and the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and 4. Purple offers three varieties of hybrid beds. These are appropriately named Purple Hybrid Premier 3 to Purple Hybrid Premier 4. Below I will explain why you might prefer one to the other and how they compare with the rest. Keep reading to discover if the Purple Hybrid mattress is right for YOU.
Purple Hybrid (also known as the Purple 2) is the thinnest option of hybrids and measures only 11 inches thick. It is firmer than any of the other models, and it is great for stomach or back sleepers. It’s also one of the most affordable Purple Hybrid mattresses.
The Purple Hybrid Premier (formerly Purple 3) is 12 inches in thickness with a thicker Hyper elastic Polymer comfort layer. It feels a little softer and is a medium-firm weight. Purple Mattress Trial
Purple Hybrid Premier 4 Purple Hybrid Hybrid beds are the most expensive. However, it’s 13 inches thick and extra supportive. It’s similar to the Purple Hybrid Premier 3 and has a medium or medium-firm profile. We believe it would suit any body type.
Purple Hybrid Mattress Video Review
The Purple Hybrid incorporates purple detailing throughout the bed, a great touch for an avid lover of the color. The details in the cover give it a premium look, and you can tell it’s a bit more heavy-duty than the flagship Purple mattress. What does the Purple feel like?
It’s quite different than the innerspring mattress in Grandma’s guest room, and I will tell you that. This is a novel concept for a bed, and I believe it worked in the company’s favor. Purple Mattress Trial
Purple Hybrid mattress firmness & Feel
Regardless of the model you get, the Purple Hybrid mattresses are soft and airy without feeling like foam. Feel the squishy, squared shapes underneath the mattress by running your fingers along its center.
It’s not super noticeable when you’re laying down, it just feels buoyant like you’re floating on your back or laying on a hammock. However, the thick layer made of pocketed coils makes it extremely supportive.
The Purple Hybrid 2 simultaneously feels supportive and pressure-relieving, but it also has a slightly firmer profile. It’s 7/10 on the firmness scale. The soft squares do not press into your hips and shoulders, unlike a traditional firm bed. But my back and spine feel extremely reinforced thanks to the Hyper-Elastic polymer layer. I think it’s a tad bit firmer than the Original Purple mattress.
If you’re curious about the Purple Hybrid but you aren’t willing to explore unconventional ways of bedding, you might want to look elsewhere. If you are open to the idea of a mattress that relieves pressure from your hips, shoulders, and back, while also making you feel light, this might be a good choice for you. Purple Mattress Trial
Purple Hybrid Premier
The brand’s two top-level hybrid beds share the same Purple feel but have a slightly softer profile due to their thicker Hyper-Elastic polymer layers.
I think they both land in between a medium to medium-firm, or around a 6 on the firmness scale. Purple Mattress Trial
Purple Hybrid Mattress Construction
The Purple Hybrid has four layers and is approximately 11 inches high. Below is a breakdown of each layer of the Purple Hybrid bed. This will give you an idea about what makes Purple and Purple.
A thin slab of basic foam about an inch thick, which supports the thick pocketed coil layer above.
A thick system containing 7.5-inch coils in pockets, each individually wrapped with fabric to prevent motion transfer. It is what makes this mattress so comfortable.
A thin half an inch of foam to help neutralize the feel of the pocketed coils in the bed’s foundation.
The Hyper Elastic Polymer brand uses covers that are approximately 2 inches in height. These are laid out in a grid-like pattern. This is the main layer which distinguishes it the Purple Hybrid mattresses. Every mattress has a different thickness. It’s bouncy, squishy, soft and provides most of the Purple’s comfort.
To give the sides more support and stability, dense foam slabs are placed around the edges.
On top is the Purple’s “StretchMax” cover, and just like the name implies, it’s extra-stretchy. It feels more breathable and breathable then a standard mattress cover. Purple Mattress Trial
Purple Hybrid Premier mattress layers
The brand’s top-tier mattresses are the Purple Hybrid Premier and Purple Hybrid Premier. Only the top layers make up the main difference in construction.
Purple 3 has a layer of Hyper elastic Polymer at its top that measures 3 inches, while Purple 4 has 4 inches.
While it doesn’t make a significant difference in feel, they are more soft than the Purple Hybrid. Purple Mattress Trial
Motion isolation is not something that innerspring beds are known for, but the Purple Hybrid has pocketsed coils and special material that make it possible.
It’s quite good at isolating movements, even though the bed is super-bouncy.
It almost makes no sound, so you’ll barely be able notice your partner’s movements on the other. Purple Mattress Trial
Purple Hybrid mattresses include firm foam on the edges. If you are prone to slipping during the night, the Purple Hybrid will keep you more secure.
So, I give this mattress the enthusiastic thumbs up for edge support.
The other benefit of the Purple Grid besides bouncy comfort would have to be its temperature-regulating abilities. The Purple Grid does not have any fancy cooling materials. Its natural, breathable design means that it is one of the best mattresses available for allowing airflow.
It doesn’t retain heat the way memory foam or polyfoam might. This makes it appealing to hot sleeping people like me who want additional cooling. The Purple is not cold to my skin, but it doesn’t make me feel hot. Purple Mattress Trial
Purple Hybrids’ ideal sleeping positions & body types
You wouldn’t expect to fit in every shirt size at your favorite clothing store, and you shouldn’t assume every mattress is accommodating for you.
Because there are so many choices, it is important to choose carefully. Your preference for a particular position and your body type are key factors in choosing the best mattress. Purple Mattress Trial
The primary sleeping positions are side, stomach, back or a combination of them all. Purple Hybrids will be most suitable for stomach and back sleepers.
If you’re a side-sleeper and really want the Purple Hybrid I’d recommend one of the Purple Premier beds. These mattresses are softer than the standard hybrid model and will provide more relief for your shoulders and sides. Purple Mattress Trial
Type of body
The Purple Hybrid beds are perfect for anyone, regardless of their body type.
Purple Hybrid beds are better for all types of bodies than regular foam beds like Casper, Nectar and Casper. The bottom layer is made of steel coils with pockets. Steel is more durable than foam. You will notice a difference in the durability of this mattress over a period of 10 years compared to an all foam bed. Purple Mattress Trial
The Purple Hybrid bed is more expensive than the original Purple. This is not a good option for those who want to spend as little money as possible on a new mattress. It’s possible that you will see the Purple Hybrid as a reasonable cost if you are looking to make an investment in your sleep.
Purple Hybrid mattresses can be purchased in sizes from twinXL to California queen. Prices start from $1,299 and can go all the way to $1.899. You won’t find any discounts on this bed but they may offer free sheets or pillows when you buy.
The Purple Hybrid mattress has metal coils encased in foam to offer support and softness.
